The Cisco Mobile Office symbol is the promise of secure, standards-based, public broadband access.

Definition

The Cisco Mobile Office - On The Road designation within the Cisco Powered Network Program is a preferred customer designation for service providers that support the provision of secure broadband Internet and wired/wireless LAN access to traveling professionals in public access "Hotspots", such as, airports, hotels, convention centers, and other public spaces.
 
To qualify, service providers must build the network, including the wireless and wired networking elements, 100% on Cisco products and, as relevant, utilize Cisco Mobile Office - On The Road settlement and broadband roaming enabling partners to ensure a complete end-to-end solution.

 
Program Membership Requirements
To qualify for a Cisco Mobile Office - On The Road designation within the Cisco Powered Network program, a service provider must meet the following requirements of the program:
  Instant, reliable, broadband network access provides connectivity while on the move without compromising speed or ease of access.
  Deliver services over a network that is built 100 percent with Cisco products to ensure end-to-end secure broad band connectivity. Depending on the particular service offered, the elements are:
  Cisco-based access connectivity to client locations
  On premises LAN with Cisco layer 2 & 3 switching
  Cisco-based Ethernet connectivity at wired access points
  Cisco-based Aironet 802.11 products for wireless access points
  Cisco VPN concentrator and/or client software
  Building Broadband Service Manager, to enable service provisioning and billing settlement
  Cisco 802.11x Network Interface Cards (NIC), if part of service
  Agree to participate in joint marketing initiatives (i.e., customer testimonials, promotional efforts for venue launches, events, Web site, PR, news conferences) with Cisco to build visibility for the Cisco Mobile Office - On The Road logo in designated venues.
  Agree to be part of the Cisco Mobile Office - On The Road Hotspots web site that requires on-going updates so that Cisco can help promote newly enabled venues.
  Agree to use and affix all Mobile Office Hotspots with the Cisco Mobile Office - On The Road brand mark as appropriate.

How to Apply
For new applicants and existing Cisco Powered Network service providers please complete the following steps:
  To become part of the Cisco Mobile Office - On The Road designation, as a new applicant or existing CPN Service Provider, please complete the application form.
  New applicants to the CPN program must also fill out the Cisco Powered Network application and select Dedicated Internet Access found on the external Cisco web site.
  AM, RM, and OD (or Country Manager) endorsement of the application are required, and will be obtained via automatic email notification once the service provider submits the application into the system.
  The Cisco SE assigned to the account will be asked to complete an audit of all the equipment and services that comprise the service provider's network for this service, and to prepare a Visio network diagram and a Data Center Checklist, if relevant.
  The network diagram and checklist are sent via email to Dianne Purinton ( dpurinto@cisco.com), referencing the application type and customer name in the subject line.
  In addition to internal review, the Cisco Powered Network Program Office will review the application with the Cisco Mobile Office - On The Road team before final approval.

What equipment is generally required by a service provider to qualify to participate in the for Cisco Mobile Office - On The Road program?
To be considered for the Cisco Mobile Office - On The Road designation the service provider must commit to building an end-to-end network powered 100% by Cisco products, and utilize critical wired and wireless technologies as described in the requirements above. In addition, the service provider will have access to Cisco Systems Engineers and professional services for the expertise to ensure interoperability of Cisco Mobile Office - On The Road network design. Service providers must be prepared to demonstrate competencies in site surveys, installations, etc. for the Cisco wireless access point products.
What happens after the Cisco Mobile Office - On The Road designation application is submitted?
Dianne Purinton will work with Tracy Garroutte in the CIMO team for review/approval. Upon approval, the service provider will be informed of acceptance in the Cisco Powered Network program with the Internet Mobile Office designation. Notification of decision outcomes will arrive in approximately two weeks after receipt of your application and supporting materials to successfully participate in this program.
