WLAN Management

Make no mistake - Cisco Wireless LANs use cutting edge technology. But that doesn't mean they're difficult to install and manage. In fact, because there's no recabling to be done, they're usually quicker and cheaper to build and run than wired networks - and managing your WLAN is simple.

Simple Network Management Protocol
Managing a Cisco Systems WLAN is easy - because it requires the same skills and tools used to manage a regular wired network. All Cisco Aironet solutions support management via Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), accessible by Telnet and a Web browser to enable monitoring and event logging, troubleshooting, configuration changes and firmware upgrades.

The Access Point (AP) management system Express Setup screen provides all the settings required for basic configuration of the AP.

As you can see, running your WLAN is pretty straightforward:

Managing change
Cisco Aironet solutions make it easier to manage a changing business and evolving wireless technology.

Adding new users and devices is simple - in fact, automatic - with Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP). Upgrading firmware on remote APs is just as easy, thanks to the Software Image Manager (SWIM) which centralizes and automates network-wide software changes. Find out more about these features in Cisco Aironet Overview.
