Modification
|
Release 12.3(21)BC
|
Support for the following SPA interface processor (SIP) hardware was introduced on the Cisco uBR10012 router:
• Cisco SIP for the 1-Gbps Wideband SPA (referred to in this document as the Cisco Wideband SIP or Wideband SIP)
|
Supported SIP Features
The Cisco Wideband SIP is a high-performance SPA interface processor that functions as a carrier card for shared port adapters (SPAs) on the Cisco uBR10012 router. For information on SPA compatibility, see the "SIP and SPA Compatibility" section on page 2-2.
This section provides a list of some of the primary features supported by the SIP hardware and software. For information about configuring these features, see Chapter 4, "Configuring the Wideband SIP."
Cisco Wideband SIP Features
The Cisco Wideband SIP has the following features:
· Support for two single-wide, half-height Wideband SPAs
· Two 1/4 rate SPI4.2 (System Packet Interface Level 4 Phase 2) interfaces
· Up to nine SPI4.2 channels per SPA: eight active total channels to and from the PRE module and one active channel to and from the SIP's main processor
· Channel counters for various SIP-related statistics: packets transmitted, bytes transmitted, errored packets, dropped packets, and dropped bytes
· OIR support for the Wideband SIP and the Wideband SPAs located on the SIP
· MIB support (ENTITY-MIB)
· NEBS 3 compliant
Restrictions
This section documents unsupported features and feature restrictions for the SIPs on the Cisco uBR10012 router.
Cisco Wideband SIP Restrictions
As of Cisco IOS Release 12.3(21)BC, the Cisco Wideband SIP has the following restrictions:
•
On the Cisco uBR10012 router, the Wideband SIP requires the Cisco uBR10012 Performance Routing Engine 2 (PRE-2).
•
When the uBR10012 router is used as a wideband CMTS, half-height Gigabit Ethernet (HHGE) line cards and the associated slot splitters must be installed in slot 3 or slot 4. Therefore, the Wideband SIP must be installed in slots 1/0 and 2/0.
•
The Wideband SIP cannot be installed in slots 2/0 and 3/0.
Supported MIBs
The MIBs are supported in Cisco IOS Release 12.3(21)BC and later for the Cisco uBR10012 router and the Wideband SIP include the following:
•
IF-MIB
•
ENTITY-MIB
For complete information about MIB support on a Cisco uBR10012 router, refer to the Cisco CMTS Universal Broadband Router MIB Specifications Guide.
To locate and download MIBs for selected platforms, Cisco IOS releases, and feature sets, use Cisco MIB Locator found at the following URL:
http://tools.cisco.com/ITDIT/MIBS/servlet/index
http://www.cisco.com/public/sw-center/netmgmt/cmtk/mibs.shtml
To access Cisco MIB Locator, you must have an account on Cisco.com. If you have forgotten or lost your account information, send a blank e-mail to cco-locksmith@cisco.com. An automatic check will verify that your e-mail address is registered with Cisco.com. If the check is successful, account details with a new random password will be e-mailed to you. Qualified users can establish an account on Cisco.com by following the directions found at this URL:

Displaying the SIP Hardware Type
To verify the SIP hardware type that is installed in your Cisco uBR10012 router, you can use the show diag command. There are other commands on the Cisco uBR10012 router that also provide SIP hardware information, such as the show inventory command. For a summary of some other SIP commands, see Chapter 6, "Command Summary for the Wideband SIP."
Table 3-1 shows the hardware description that appears in the show diag and show inventory command output for each type of SIP that is supported on the Cisco uBR10012 router.
