PRODUCT MIGRATION OPTIONS
The recommended replacement for the Cisco VPNSM and associated Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series security system bundles is the IPSec VPN SPA and associated Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series security system bundles (Table 2). The Cisco IPSec VPN SPA delivers scalable and cost-effective VPN performance for Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series switches and Cisco 7600 Series routers. Using the Cisco 7600 Series/Catalyst 6500 Series Services SPA Carrier-400, each slot of the Cisco Catalyst 6500 or Cisco 7600 chassis can support up to two IPSec VPN SPAs. In addition to supporting DES and 3DES, the Cisco IPSec VPN SPA supports AES, including all key sizes (128-, 192-, and 256-bit keys). Designed to be the next-generation encryption technology, AES offers the ultimate in IPSec VPN security and interoperability.
The recommended replacements for Cisco Catalyst 6503E and 6506E VPNSM security system bundles are the Cisco Catalyst 6504E and 6506E VPN SPA security system bundles. The Catalyst 6504E and 6506E security system bundles include the new Cisco Supervisor Engine 720-3B with a modular policy feature card 3B (PFC3B) forwarding-engine daughter card as a default option. Additionally, these bundles include the Cisco IPSec VPN SPA as well as the fan tray modules. Power supplies are configurable by the user but are not included in the bundle.
