Product Bulletin No. 3216
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Cisco® 3200 Series wireless and mobile routers are rugged wireless routers that offer secure data, voice, and video communication, and support multiple wired and wireless links, including integrated 802.11b/g and 4.9-GHz wireless technologies. With a flexible, compact form factor, these routers are ideally suited for integration in vehicles or outdoor environments. Standards-based Mobile IP delivers transparent roaming for mobile applications; and Cisco IOS® Software provides security, manageability, and scalability, along with interoperability between networks, while allowing for future network expansions and upgrades.
The Cisco 3200 components can be embedded into a system integrator's enclosure or purchased from Cisco as a fully assembled bundle in the Cisco 3200 Rugged Enclosure. The rugged enclosure addresses specific physical and environmental deployment requirements for public safety, homeland security, transportation, and the defense markets. Manufactured by Cisco Systems®, The Cisco 3200 Rugged Enclosure completely seals the cards and is designed to withstand harsh environments inside vehicles and in outdoor deployments. The enclosure is designed to withstand high temperature variations, high altitude, intense shock/vibration, and exposure to damp, wet, or dusty conditions. NEW CISCO 3200 SERIES ROUTER ORDERING NUMBERS
To address the numerous markets and distribution channels in which Cisco 3200 Series routers are sold, Cisco has updated the Cisco 3200 ordering numbers. The Cisco 3200 Series product capabilities remain the same. Cisco is simply providing additional part numbers to provide more options for preconfigured hardware bundles. This document describes the new ordering numbers for the Cisco 3200 Series. For detailed information about Cisco 3200 Series ordering options, see the Cisco 3200 Series Ordering Guide.
ORDERING OPTION 1: CISCO 3200 SERIES BUNDLES IN THE FULLY ASSEMBLED CISCO RUGGED ENCLOSURE
The bundles in the Cisco Rugged Enclosure are designated as Cisco 3230 enclosed models and consist of a Mobile Access Router Card (MARC), a Serial Mobile Interface Card (SMIC), a Fast Ethernet Switching Mobile Interface Card (FESMIC), and a Mobile Router Power Card (MRPC). The quantity of wireless mobile interface cards (WMICs) varies from bundle to bundle. The part number helps indicate the quantity and type of WMICs that may be included.
The Cisco 3230 Series bundles in the Cisco Rugged Enclosure do not include external wireless antennas or external power cabling. For more information on purchasing options for these components, see the Cisco 3200 Antenna Guide and the Cisco 3200 Series Power Cabling Guide.

Note: The Cisco 3200 Series offers service and support options in addition to 8x5xNBD Support. Please contact your Cisco Service Account Manager for details.
ORDERING OPTION 2: STANDALONE CISCO 3200 SERIES CARD BUNDLES (NO ENCLOSURE)
Cisco 3200 Series card bundles (router and mobile interface cards without the rugged enclosure) can be ordered by Cisco 3200 Series Advanced Technology Providers. These bundles consist of the same router and mobile interface cards as the rugged enclosure bundles, but do not have the thermal plates and rugged enclosure components. Systems integrators can order Cisco 3200 Series routers and mobile interface cards to provide a Cisco wireless and mobile network solution in custom enclosures in order to meet unique deployment requirements.
These standalone card bundles ship as a set of cards with a single MARC, SMIC, and FESMIC, and an optional number of WMICs. The standalone card bundles do not include the Cisco enclosure, MRPC, or internal or external cabling. The Cisco 3200 Series card stacks are powered by a DC-to-DC power converter card available through Datel Corporation. You can order Datel power cards through the following Website http://www.cd4power.com/. Internal and external cables can be ordered separately through reference sale documentation provided on the Cisco 3200 Series Partner Website.
Table 2 lists the Cisco 3200 Series card bundles available to order from Cisco. The common denominator for each bundle is a MARC, SMIC, or a FESMIC. The part number indicates the quantity and type of WMIC included in the bundle.
Table 2. Standalone Cisco 3200 Series Card Bundles (No Enclosure)
* The WMIC Accessory Kit provides antenna connectors and internal cabling for the WMICs. The C3230WMIC-KIT= must be ordered when customers are upgrading an existing C3230ENC bundle with a spare WMIC. The WMIC Assembly Kit provides antenna connectors and internal cabling required for adding the WMIC to a C3230ENC bundle.
ORDERING OPTION 3: CISCO 3200 SERIES INDIVIDUAL OR SPARE CARDS FOR USE WITH AND WITHOUT THE CISCO RUGGED ENCLOSURE
The third way to order Cisco 3200 Series products is to order individual or spare cards. Cisco 3200 Series router and mobile interface cards are orderable with or without thermal plates. Cards with thermal plates are used with the Cisco 3200 Series Rugged Enclosure and are identified with the letters "TP" in the part number. Customers may purchase additional spare WMICs and add them to available slots inside the Cisco Rugged Enclosure. The Cisco 3200 Rugged Enclosure bundles are limited to 1 SMIC and 1 FESMIC.
Cards without thermal plates are to be embedded in third-party enclosure designs offered by qualified system integrators. Cisco does not sell thermal plates separately.
Table 3. Cisco 3200 Series Spare Cards
