Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco Unity™ IBM Digital Audio Tape (DAT) Drive. The last day to order this product is February 16, 2005. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until February 16, 2010. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco Unity IBM DAT Drive. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.

PRODUCT MIGRATION OPTIONS
The recommended replacement for the Cisco Unity IBM DAT Drive is the Cisco Media Convergence Server (MCS) internal non-hot-plug IBM DAT Drive or the Cisco External Super Digital Linear Tape (SDLT) Drive.
The Cisco MCS internal non-hot-plug IBM DAT Drive plugs into an available drive bay on Cisco Media Convergence Servers and offers 36 GB (uncompressed) or 72 GB (compressed) of backup storage capacity. The Cisco External SDLT Drive connects to an external Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) port on a Cisco MCS and offers 160GB (uncompressed) or 320GB (compressed) high-capacity, high-speed backup storage.
