Cisco LocalDirector 430 Description
Cisco LocalDirector 430 is a modular, server load-balancing networking appliance that delivers more than 200-Mbps throughput. Its reliability is proven in Internet sites with extremely high traffic. Cisco LocalDirector requires minimal setup and no network address changes, making administration simple and cost effective.

Replacement Product Information
Available now, the recommended replacement for Cisco LocalDirector 430 product is Cisco LocalDirector 417, LocalDirector 417G, or the Cisco 11000 Series Content Services Switches. Cisco LocalDirector 417 and 417G offer software features that are identical to those of Cisco LocalDirector 430 at similar performance but at a lower list price. For higher performance, the Cisco CSS 11000 offers the WebNS feature set, which is not available in Cisco LocalDirector 430.

Cisco CSS 11050 Content Services Switch is a compact, high performance solution for small Web sites and points of presence (POPs) supporting WebNS software. The Cisco CSS 11051 offers eight Fast Ethernet interfaces while the 11052 offers eight Fast Ethernet and one Gigabit Ethernet (including -SX GBIC) interfaces. WebNS features offers industry leading L4-7 content switching features, much of which is not available on the LocalDirector platforms.

The Cisco CSS 11154 offers twelve Fast Ethernet interfaces and two Gigabit Ethernet (including -SX GBICs) interfaces supporting up to 64,000 concurrent sessions. The Cisco CSS 11155 offers twelve Fast Ethernet interfaces and two Gigabit Ethernet (including -SX GBICs) interfaces supporting up to 128,000 concurrent sessions. WebNS features offers industry leading L4-7 content switching features, much of which is not available on the LocalDirector platforms.

Note that some LocalDirector 430 features are not currently supported on the WebNS-based CSS 1105x and 1115x platforms. Examples of this include L5 statefull failover, DFP and MNLB. If these features are required, customers should migrate to the LD417 or 417G and not the CSS.
