Configure

In this section, you are presented with the information to configure the features described in this document.

Note: Use the Command Lookup Tool ( registered customers only) to obtain more information on the commands used in this section.

MultiLink PPP 115K 2 channel Asynchronous Configuration

Configure the router for ASYNC 115K Hardware flow control. Configure the BitSurfer with the following setup string

AT&F1&C1&S1&D3@B0=2&W1&Y1

When dialing in with your chat script specify two phone numbers: ATD 5551212&5551212. Normally they will be the same number.

Note: By default the BitSurfer is configured for 56K channels. If you have 64K channels, you should append %A4=0 to the above string.

Bonded 128K Two Channel Synchronous Connection (Between BitSurfers)

When the 900i is set up for PPP with V.25bis dialing method and sync mode, it can run with the BitSurfer Pro when the BitSurfer is set up as follows:

AT&F3&C1&D3%A2=3%A4=0@B0=2@P1=VH@P2=128000&W0&Y0@P1=A@P2=9600

         &F3 Start with Factory Profile 3
         &C1          DCD Tracks connection
         &D3          DTR: Hangup resets port
         %A2=3        BONDING Rate Adaption Protocol
         %A4=0        Line Channel Speed = 64K (1 = 56k)
         @B0=2        BONDING Multiplier
         @P1=VH       V.25 HDLC (for BitSURFR)
         @P2=128000   DTE Speed
         &W0 Save into Stored Profile 0
         &Y0 Make sure we start in profile 0
         @P1=A Go back to AT Command Mode
         @P2=9600 Go back to 9600 bps

This will save the recommended setup in Stored Profile 0 and set the command mode back to AT and 9600 bps so that the terminal can still communicate with the BitSurfer Pro. Enter the command AT&V to review the stored profile.

When you are ready to connect the BitSurfer to your router, turn off the BitSurfer, plug in the correct connectors, then turn on the BitSurfer. It will start up in SYNC mode.

If, for any reason, you want to be able to enter AT commands into the modem again you will need to change a switch setting on the back of the BitSurfer.

To reset the BitSurfer's active profile to factory default:

  • Set switch #4 to the ON position.

  • Power the BitSurfer off.

  • Power the BitSurfer on.

  • The Bitsurfer is now ready for AT commands.

  • Return switch #4 to its original OFF position when you are done.

Verify

There is currently no verification procedure available for this configuration.
