More Information

In order to add a subinterface in CompatiView v5.x, use the right mouse button or the File/Subinterface command to create the subinterface. In CompatiView v4.8.7, use the New Subinterface button within the TCP/IP Routing section for the port you wish to add the subinterface. Then configure the subinterface for the new IP network assigned to it. Enable the dot1q encapsulation in order to create a subinterface on an Ethernet WAN connection. For example:

 interface FastEthernet0.160
 encapsulation dot1q 160
 no ip address

In the command line, use the config ip command for the port you wish to subinterface using the subinterface number you wish to use. For example:

config ip ethernet 0.1
config ip wan 1.1

Then configure that new section with the new IP network assigned to it.
