If the MR1000R is configured for a protocol that is not negotiated by the far end, then it negotiates fine and show routes, but does not pass ANY traffic.

If the MR1000R is configured to route AppleTalk, IPX, and IP and the remote side is only configured for IPX and IP, then the IPX and IP dynamic routing shows up on the remote end, but no traffic passes through the link. Turn AppleTalk on for the remote end and all traffic passes fine or turn off AppleTalk on the MR1000R and all traffic passes fine.
