End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Announcement for the
Cisco D and E Versions of the BXM Broadband Cards
Cisco Systems® announces the end of life of the Cisco® BPX® 8600 D and E versions of the BXM Broadband cards effective October 15, 2003. The last day to order the Cisco BPX8600 BXM Broadband cards is September 30, 2004. Customers will continue to receive support from Cisco Engineering until September 30, 2006. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected cards.
Customers are encouraged to upgrade to the Enhanced DX and EX BXM Broadband cards which offer superior price/performance, greater cell storage, an increase in connection counts, more memory, and support for advanced traffic management capabilities. Table 2 provides relevant information for upgrading from the D and E versions of the BXM Broadband cards to the Enhanced DX and EX versions.
Note: The Enhanced DX and EX BXM Broadband cards can be used interchangeably with the D and E versions of the BXM Broadband cards, except in situations where APS 1+1 or Y-Redundancy needs to be supported. In those situations, both cards will need to be the same type of Enhanced Broadband cards. For example, both cards must either be DX or D versions, but not one of each.
