This article is one in a series to assist in the setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Cisco Small Business products (formerly Linksys Business Series).

Note: The firmware version, type, and user interface used in this example might be different than the firmware version, type, and user interface for these switches: SRW208, SRW208G, SRW208L, SRW208P and SRW208MP, SRW2008, SRW2008P and SRW2008MP, SRW2024, SRW2048, SRW2016, SRW224G4, SRW248G4, SFE1000P, SFE2000, SFE200P, SFE2010, SFE2010P, SGE2000, SGE2000P, SGE2010, and SGE2010P.

Q. How do I upgrade the boot image of a switch?



A. Complete these steps in order to upgrade the boot image of a switch:

  1. Install a TFTP server on your computer.

  2. Check the model and version number on the back of the switch.

    Note: If the hardware version is not displayed beside the model number, the device is considered version 1.

  3. Visit the Cisco Software Center (registered customers only) in order to download the firmware for your device.

    1. In the Software Related Search field, enter the model and firmware version of the switch.

    2. Click Go.

  4. Save the downloaded firmware to TFTP-Root directory on your computer.

  5. Access the switch web UI, and go to Firmware Upgrade.

  6. Click the via TFTP radio button, and then click the Upgrade radio button.

  7. Choose Boot Code from the File Type drop-down list.

  8. In the TFTP Server field, enter the IP address of the computer where the TFTP server is installed.
