This article is one in a series to assist in the setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Cisco Small Business products (formerly Linksys Business Series).

Q. How can I reset the switch?

A.

To restore the Switch to the factory default settings, you will need to access the device thru console port or thru its web user interface.

To reset the device thru console port:

Step 1:
Connect the console cable to the front panel of the Switch and then connect the other end of the cable to the back of the computer

Step 2:
Run Hyper Terminal software on your computer.

Step 3:
Choose the communication port being used on the back of your computer.

Step 4:
Click on Restore Defaults and then set the Bits per second to 38400. 

Step 5:
The login screen will show on your screen.  Type admin for the username and leave the password blank.

Step 6:
Click on System Configuration menu and then click on Restore System Default Settings.

Step 7:
Click "Y" to confirm reset for SRW224.

To reset the device using Web user interface:

Step 1:
Open your internet explorer and then type the IP address of the Switch, http://192.168.1.254.  Type admin for username and leave the password blank.

Step 2:
Go to the Maintenance tab.

Step 3:
Under the Maintenance tab you will see "Reset the Device" button.

Step 4:
Click on OK to confirm reset for the Switch.
