Q. How do I resolve port problems for my SRW224?
A.Ethernet ports problems may vary from the simple physical connection problems up to the problems with the firmware of switch itself. Try to verify first if cables used are working. Check the Ethernet LED lights of the switch to see if the device is establishing a physical link to the switch.
If you made sure of the proper connection and you can see the Ethernet port still not lit up, the port might be configured do to "down" or "disabled" in the switch configuration. To ensure that this is active, try to go to the web based configuration page of the switch. Go to Port Management and select Port Settings. Make sure that the Administrative Status is set for "Up".

If this is still the case, try to do a factory reset in the System Configuration via the HyperTerminal. Follow these steps:
Step 1:
Click Start, All Programs or Programs.Step 2:
Select Accessories, Communications then HyperTerminal.
Step 3:
When the Connection Description window appears, enter the connection name on the Name field then click OK.
Step 4:
Under Connect using, select COM1 or COM2 then click OK.
Step 5:
Under COM1 Properties window, click OK.
Step 6:
When a Login Screen appears, enter "admin" on the User Name field and leave the Password field blank then select Execute.
Note: To navigate through the console use the Arrow keys, Tab, Backspace, Space, Enter, and ESC.Step 7:
When the Switch Main Menu window appears, select System Configuration Menu.
Step 8:
Under System Configuration Menu, select IP Configuration.
If after the restoring the switch to factory settings and you still has the same problem, try to upgrade the firmware of the switch via the xmodem. For instructions, click here.
