Cisco Open Programmable Switching provides an
open call model and standard API that supports the cost- effective and rapid
development of core transport (e.g. Class 4) and enhanced (e.g. calling card) services.
Open programmable switches can act as an adjunct to
older proprietary switches, provide core transport for new
wireline or wireless networks, or serve as a mixed
environment gateway and/or service node for New World
packet-based networks.
Cisco VCO/4K Switches
The VCO/4K open, programmable switch enables service providers worldwide to build scalable, cost-effective networks that support the rapid deployment of wireline and wireless infrastructure or enhanced voice services.
