Cisco is innovating in four key areas:
- Developing an end-to-end media-ready network that extends from the content source to the consumer
- Developing next-generation connected devices that integrate the intelligence of the network to deliver compelling entertainment and communication experiences
- Developing robust software platforms that support the proliferation of network-enabled devices, digital content, and new media experiences
- Developing a partner ecosystem designed to deliver connected experiences to consumers via multiple routes to market.
The acquisition of Linksys marked Cisco's entry into the multibillion dollar home networking market and has given Cisco new routes to market. It transformed our consumer vision by enabling us to functionally integrate into big IP networks and move content, applications, and services from the data center to IP networks inside consumers' homes. The acquisition of Pure Networks strengthened our competitive position in the home networking market by allowing us to offer an easy-to-use, fully integrated management solution. Acquiring Scientific Atlanta gave us immediate credibility in the video and consumer markets and positioned us as a leading provider of set-top boxes and end–to–end video distribution networks.
