Cisco at Microsoft Tech Ed North America
TechEd North America is Microsoft's premier technology conference for IT Professionals and Enterprise Developers, providing the technical education, product evaluation, and community resources to plan, architect, deploy, manage and secure a connected enterprise. And this year the very best of TechEd and MMS will be converging in Houston, where we will be sharing, networking and illustrating our partnership and best practices of Cisco with Microsoft.
Our Booth 701
At TechEd, those that visited our booth learned about Cisco Data Center products and solutions, including Cisco UCS, Nexus, VSPEX, FlexPod and more, by visiting our booth 701. Engage with this interactive, dynamic, on-demand 3-D virtual tool, powered by the Kaon Interactive Platform, to view, rotate, extract and manipulate blades, boards, and components to discover technical features and benefits. Technical in-booth demonstrations included:
- UCS
- UCS Management
- Solutions VSPEX and FlexPod for Microsoft
- Network Virtualization - N1KV, VM-FEX
- Cisco Intercloud
- Invicta
- ACI
We also showcased twenty-four in booth theater speaking presentations on significant subjects including: ACI, UCS TCO, Invicta and Application Performance and more. Additionally, we invited partners NetApp and EMC to present in our theater on relevant topics.

Cisco Breakout Session
- Title: Cisco’s Technology Trifecta for Cloud OS
- Speaker: Rex Backman
- Date: Tuesday, May 13th, 1:30pm
- Abstract: The Cisco Microsoft alliance over the past three years has provided a stream of technology innovation ranging from the introduction of our UCS compute family, our Hyper-V Extensible Switch offer Nexus 1000V, to some of the best System Center integration and PowerShell work seen to date. In late 2013 and early 2014 Cisco continued to release new technologies that support Microsoft’s Cloud OS: our Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) architecture, Invicta solid state flash capabilities for UCS, and Cisco Intercloud, a hybrid cloud management solution. ACI, Invicta, and Intercloud offer up a ‘technology trifecta’ that provide support for Cloud OS - Windows Server and Azure - and System Center. These technologies will enable quicker more efficient cloud deployments, workload deployments based on SQL, Exchange, and SharePoint s well as improved integrated manageability. This session will introduce these three Cisco technologies and showcase their discrete integrations into Windows Server, System Center, and Azure.
Platinum Partner Theater Session
- Title: Deploy Applications Faster than Ever
- Speaker: Rami Rammaha
- Date: Monday, May 12th, 12:15pm
- Abstract: Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure tackles the increased complexity in the data center with a common policy framework that automates provisioning and management of resources resulting in deploying applications in minutes.

At Microsoft TechEd, Cisco will be demonstrating the following technologies:
Cisco Intercloud: With Cisco InterCloud, customers can build secure hybrid clouds and extend their existing data center to public clouds as needed and on demand. Connect on-premises data center infrastructure to multiple service providers and take advantage of flexible, pay-as-you-grow capacity. Ultimately, achieve lower costs and faster delivery of resources
ACI: Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) is a holistic architecture with centralized automation and policy-driven application profiles. ACI delivers software flexibility with the scalability of hardware performance.
Network Virtualization: Many enterprises and service providers want to extend Cisco networking benefits to their Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V deployments. The Cisco Nexus 1000V Switch and VM-FEX offer a consistent operational model across physical and virtual environments - in hardware or software. This distributed virtual switching platform provides advanced features and is tightly integrated with the Hyper-V ecosystem
Invicta: Cisco UCS Invicta Series Solid State Systems deliver powerful, easy-to-manage application acceleration for I/O and bandwidth-intensive workloads. With Cisco UCS Invicta Series, you can confidently deploy flash memory technology with the proven operational and scaling advantages of the Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS).
UCS Management: Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) offers simplified and open management with a large partner ecosystem. Cisco UCS Manager provides embedded management of all software and hardware components in Cisco UCS.
With Cisco UCS Central, management can be extended globally to thousands of servers across multiple Cisco UCS domains and geographies. Cisco UCS Director unifies management across computing, networking, and storage components in converged infrastructure solutions
Solutions: FlexPod and VSPEX are converged compute, networking, and storage integrated solutions developed by Cisco and NetApp and Cisco and EMC. These flexible architectures can easily be: Scaled ; Optimized for a variety of application workloads ; Configured for virtual desktop applications and Optimized for mixed application workloads and cloud environments
UCS: Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) and servers unify computing, networking, management, virtualization, and storage access into a single integrated architecture. This unique architecture enables end-to-end server visibility, management, and control in both bare metal and virtual environments, and facilitates the move to cloud computing and IT-as-a-Service with Fabric-Based Infrastructure.
