Higher education campus safety organizations are effectively using processes and technology to protect students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Nonviolent crimes such as burglary, auto theft, and arson have decreased in recent years, as has the violent crime rate. But efforts to improve campus safety never cease because manmade and natural disasters can come at any time, and as a result, campus safety organizations continually strive to improve event detection, notification of affected students and staff, and response.
