من منظور أستكشاف الأخطاء وإصلاحها، قد يكون من المفيد تكوين إدخالات ARP الثابتة على كلا المضيفين للتحقق بسرعة مما إذا كانت المشكلة متعلقة بالاتصال العام في البنية (في هذه الحالة لا يعمل إختبار الاتصال بين الأجهزة المضيفة) أو فقط بدقة ARP.
تستفيد عملية ARP في بنية SDA من LISP لحل تحديد الأجهزة المضيفة وموقعها، كما تختلف عن سلوك ARP في بيئات التوجيه/التحويل التقليدية.
الخطوة 1: ترسل نقطة نهاية البنية طلب ARP لتحديد ربط MAC/IP لنقطة نهاية البنية الأخرى

بعد الإكمال الناجح للخطوات الثلاث الأولى، تعرف Edge Node عنوان MAC على 10.47.4.3 الذي تم إنشاء ARP له في البداية. مع تمكين امتداد الطبقة 2، لا ترد عقدة Edge بهذه المعلومات مرة أخرى على 10.47.4.2، بل تستخدمها بدلا من ذلك لتحديد موقع RLOC لحافة عقدة الخروج، حتى يمكنها إعادة توجيه ARP نحو 10.47.4.3 كما في شبكة الطبقة 2 التقليدية.
