SAN JOSE, Calif. – On August 31, 2023 – Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) 

Today, Cisco has completed the acquisition of Oort, a privately held company based in Boston, MA. The Oort team’s experience and technical capabilities will help accelerate Cisco’s path to delivering Identity Threat Detection and Response (ITDR) capabilities into its Extended Detection and Response (XDR) and Identity and Access Management solutions.

Q: Why did Cisco choose Oort? 

A: Oort will contribute to the expansion of Cisco’s product and engineering talent and accelerate Cisco’s delivery of the Cisco Security Cloud. Oort's technology will be an integral component of the Cisco security portfolio through the Cisco Security Cloud, a global, cloud-delivered, integrated networking and security platform for organizations of any shape and size.  

Q: Why is now the right time to acquire Oort? 

A: Cisco is delivering upon its vision of Cisco Security Cloud, and this acquisition helps to accelerate the delivery of platform value for its customers. 

Q: What product gaps is Cisco trying to address with this acquisition?

A: Oort will accelerate Cisco’s delivery of the Cisco Security Cloud by extending its Extended Detection and Response (XDR) and Identity and Access Management capabilities to combat identity-based attacks.   

Oort customers should continue to use the existing process for support on installed Oort products. Cisco will notify you in advance of any change to the support process.
