Cisco 1100 Terminal Services Gateway
The Cisco® 1100 Terminal Services Gateway provides a high-density, compact form factor for asynchronous (RS-232) interfaces to enable console configuration and management for cloud and enterprise data centers. With an optional Layer 2 Gigabit Ethernet switch, it addresses the growing need for console configuration and setup of compute, network, and IoT base equipment. A Network Interface Module (NIM) provides support for NIMs supported on the Cisco 4000 Series Integrated Services Routers (ISRs).
The Cisco 1100 Terminal Services Gateway is available with optional AC, DC, and High-Voltage DC (HVDC) power supplies. It supports a default internal power supply and an external power supply that provides redundancy and High Availability in the event that the internal power supply fails.
Ordering the Cisco 1100 Terminal Services Gateway
The Cisco 1100 Terminal Services Gateway is available in three models. Both the C1100TG-1N24P32A and C1100TGX-1N24P32A models offer a 24-port Gigabit Ethernet switch. The C1100TG-1N32A model is available without the 24-port switch.
Table 1 lists the part numbers for the Cisco 1100 Terminal Services Gateway.
Table 1. Part numbers and descriptions
You can order the Cisco 1100 Terminal Services Gateway with a second external power supply that may be configured for power-supply redundancy. The primary power supply may be AC, DC, or HVDC. The 1100TSG also has a (proprietary) 6-pin power connector to connect the external AC power supply.
You can order the external power supply listed in Table 2 with the system or as a spare. The internal AC power supply is operated through a C13 or C14 power connector, whereas the external power supply is operated through a C5 power connector/cable combination. The internal power supplies are not field replaceable and hence cannot be ordered as a spare – the power supplies are prefitted as DC or AC at manufacturing.

Ordering Cisco IOS Software images and licenses
The Cisco 1100 Terminal Services Gateway delivers innovative technologies running on the industry-leading Cisco IOS Software network operating system.
The unit ships with a Universal Cisco IOS Software image that contains all the features available for use on the gateway. A specific feature set is activated by using technology package licenses, such as Security or Application Experience licenses.
The Cisco1100 Terminal Services Gateway supports two types of Universal images:
● Universal images with universalk9 in the image name: This Universal image offers all the Cisco IOS Software features, including strong payload cryptography features such as IP Security VPN (IPsec VPN) and Secure Unified Communications.
● Universal images with universalk9_npe in the image name: The strong control of encryption capabilities by Cisco Software Activation helps meet U.S. export control requirements for cryptography. However, some countries have import requirements that require that the platform not support any strong payload cryptography. To satisfy the import requirements of those countries, Cisco allows you to order the unit with an Non-Payload Encryption (NPE) Universal image. The NPE image does support security features such as zone-based firewall and intrusion prevention through the SECNPE-K9 license. Table 6 lists part numbers for Universal Cisco IOS Software images for the Cisco 1100 Terminal Services Gateway.

By default, all platforms bundles include the IP Base license. You can order the gateway from the factory with technology licenses preinstalled, using the paper license part numbers (those that start with SL). Alternatively, if you plan to deploy the advanced technology features later, you may order the required licenses as spares. You may order spares for technology licenses as paper licenses or e-delivery licenses (those that start with SL).
You can use the Security license to activate the advanced security features offered. You may order these part numbers only for the Universal image that supports payload cryptography. The product supports a maximum of only 1000 secure tunnels and 100 Mbps of crypto bandwidth. You can use the Application Experience license to activate the Cisco Application Experience features offered on the gateway.
The license part numbers are listed in Table 7.
