Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.1E. This announcement applies to all releases of Release 12.1E. The last day to order the affected product is March 15, 2007. Maintenance rebuilds and software fixes will no longer be available via Release 12.1E beyond March 15, 2008. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until March 15, 2012.
Please note that hardware end-of-sale and end-of-life dates take precedence over Release 12.1E milestone dates in this document. For example, Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Supervisor Engine 1A milestone dates precede the ones shown in this bulletin, and are the dates to be applied.
Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected product. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.

Additional Release 12.1E maintenance rebuilds may occur prior to the end of software maintenance. All Release 12.1E releases and rebuilds are included in this End of Sale/ End of Engineering/ End of Life announcement.
PRODUCT MIGRATION OPTIONS
Customers currently using Release 12.1E on Cisco 7200 and 7500 Series Routers are encouraged to migrate to Cisco IOS Software Major Release 12.4. Cisco 7600 Series Router and Cisco Catalyst 6500-Sup2/MSFC2 using Release 12.1E are encouraged to migrate to Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2SX. All other platforms supported by Release 12.1E have or will have reached their End-of-Maintenance date prior to the Release 12.1E End-of-Engineering Milestone. Please Note: When upgrading to a more recent release, certain software images may not be available, hardware may or may not be supported, or memory requirements may have changed. Always consult the Cisco IOS Software Upgrade Planner and Cisco Feature Navigator to verify critical functionality on required platforms.
