Bias-Free Language

Cisco® announces the end-of-sale and end-of life dates for the Cisco IOS XR Software Release 3.6. The last day to order the affected product(s) is June 30, 2009. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) as shown in Table 1 of the EoL bulletin. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected product(s). Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement. For customers with active and paid service and support contracts, support will be available until the termination date of the contract, even if this date exceeds the Last Date of Support shown in Table 1.
This end-of-sale announcement applies to all Cisco IOS XR 3.6.x releases, including any specials that may have been generated.

After this date, maintenance rebuilds and software-fix support will be provided only through rebuilds of Cisco IOS XR Release 3.8 or later releases. Refer to guidelines for Cisco IOS XR Software (see link below).

End of Software Maintenance Releases via Migration Date: OS SW
The last date that Cisco Engineering may release any final software maintenance releases or bug fixes via SMU. From June 1, 2010, until May 31, 2011, maintenance rebuilds and software fixes via SMU support for R3.6.x will be provided only through migration to rebuilds of XR 3.8 or later. After June 1, 2011, Cisco Engineering will no longer develop, repair, maintain, or test XR 3.6.

For equipment and software that is not covered by a service-and-support contract, this is the last date to order a new service-and-support contract or add the equipment and/or software to an existing service-and-support contract.

End of Vulnerability/ Security Fixes:

The last date that Cisco Engineering may release any software maintenance releases to address vulnerability/security findings that have been identified by the customer to Cisco TAC. Engineering maintenance rebuilds and software-fix support for R3.6.x will be provided only through migration to rebuilds of XR 3.8 release or later releases.
Critical security and vulnerability fixes will be provided according to the following terms and conditions:
Cisco TAC will first use commercially reasonable efforts to work with the customer to determine the locality of impact and find a workaround for the problem.
If an alternative workaround is not possible during the extended period of support, then Cisco TAC will make commercially reasonable efforts to provide a "bug fix" solution in R3.6.x, or in a later supported software release to remedy the problem.
If despite commercially reasonable efforts Cisco is unable to provide a software-based solution, it may be necessary for the customer to remove or upgrade the affected software-based systems to correct the problem.

The last date to extend or renew a service contract for the product.
September 30, 2013
Last Date of Support:
The last date to receive service and support for the product. After this date, all support services for the product are unavailable, and the product becomes obsolete.

Please note that the End-of-Life milestones of the Cisco IOS XR Release 3.6 follow the Cisco IOS XR Software general guidelines published on Cisco.com at
