® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco
® ONS 15454 OC-192 long-reach (LR)/STM-64 long-haul (LH) 1550-nm optics cards, with part numbers 15454-OC192LR1550 and 15454E-L64.2-1-HS. The last day to order these Cisco ONS 15454 OC-192 optics cards is January 27, 2005. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until January 27, 2010. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco ONS 15454 OC-192 optics cards. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.
Customers are encouraged to migrate to the latest Cisco ONS 15454 OC-192LR/STM-64H optics cards, with part numbers OC192-LR2 and L64.2-1-HS, which provide design enhancements for improved reliability and manufacturability. Information about the replacement products can be found at:

Table 3 provides relevant information for migrating from the existing Cisco ONS 15454 OC-192 optics cards to the replacement optics cards.

The recommended replacements for the Cisco ONS 15454 OC-192 optics cards are shown in Table 3. The replacement cards require that the Cisco ONS 15454 network element system software be upgraded to at least Release 3.1.0 for SONET systems and Release 3.3.0 for SDH systems prior to installing the new optics card.
