Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates of the Cisco® ONS 15454 DS-3 electrical interface cards. The last day to order these cards is November 15, 2005. Customers will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until November 15, 2010. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the cards. Table 2 lists the product numbers affected by this announcement.
Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco ONS 15454 12-Port Enhanced DS-3 interface cards, which provide visibility to the DS-3 framing bits for improved performance-monitoring capabilities.

Table 3 provides relevant information for migrating from the Cisco ONS 15454 12-Port DS-3 interface cards to the Cisco ONS 15454 12-Port Enhanced DS-3 interface cards.

The recommended replacement for the Cisco ONS 15454 12-Port DS-3 Interface Card is the Cisco ONS 15454 12-Port Enhanced DS-3 Interface Card (Table 3). The replacement card can detect DS-3 logic bits to enable the identification of degrading DS-3 facilities caused by upstream systems.
