End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Announcement for the Cisco WAAS Bundles for Cisco Integrated Services Routers Generation 2

Cisco announces the end-of-sale dates for the Cisco WAAS Bundles for Cisco Integrated Services Routers Generation 2. The last day to order the affected product(s) is August 11, 2014.Customers will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until otherwise specified by a component-specific end-of-life announcement or new Product ID. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected product(s). Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement. For customers with active and paid service and support contracts, support will be available under the terms and conditions of customers' service contract.

The Cisco ISR Application Experience (AX) bundles and combined licenses for Wide Area Application Services (WAAS), Data (DATA), and Application Visibility and Control (AVC) are the new bundles and licenses for the Cisco Integrated Services Routers. They are direct replacement products with the same functionality but are bundled to make ordering and deployment easier. Cisco is investing heavily to make WAN optimization simpler, cost-effective, and pervasive. It is changing the economics of WAN optimization with the ISR-AX and Cisco Intelligent WAN. With the ISR-AX bundles and AppX licenses (product numbers SL-xx-APP-K9) Cisco is changing the WAN optimization market. The combined WAAS-DATA-AVC licenses are less than 20 percent of the total cost of each license purchased separately, about $1 per optimized connection.

Some of the end-of-sale bundles include a Cisco Services Ready Engine (SRE) or Cisco UCS E-Series module. The Cisco SRE or Cisco UCS-E is optional but recommended with the ISR-AX bundles. They may be added to any of the Cisco ISR-AX C2911-AX/K9 (or later) platforms, which will provide the same hardware functionality as the end-of-sale bundles.
