Overview
WAN Interface Modules (WIMs) provide highly flexible connectivity options for Cisco® 800M Series Integrated Services Routers (ISR). The Cisco 800M Series 3G WWAN Interface Module (WIM-3G) is the first-in-the-industry that supports HSPA+ and EV-DO technologies on the same module. It provides enterprise-class WWAN connectivity that can be used for both backup and primary applications. The module supports 3G standards (Evolved High-Speed Packet Access [HSPA+] and EvolutionData Optimized [EV-DO] Rev A) and is backward-compatible with High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA), Universal Mobile Telecommunications Service (UMTS), Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution (EDGE), General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), and EV-DO Rev 0/1xRTT. The WIM-3G is supported on Cisco 800M Series Integrated Services Routers only.
Figure 1 shows the rear of the Cisco 800M ISR (C841M-8X) ISR with the 3G WWAN Interface Module (WIM-3G) module inserted in first slot (Slot 0) with mounted antennas.
