Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco® MDS 9000 Port Analyzer Adapter, Base (PAA). The last day to order the Cisco® MDS 9000 Port Analyzer Adapter, Base is September 8, 2005. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until September 8, 2010.Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and important dates for the Cisco MDS 9000 PAA, and Table 2 describes the specific part numbers affected by this announcement.
Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco MDS 9000 Port Analyzer Adapter, Enhanced (PAA-2), which contains all the functionality available in the Cisco MDS 9000 PAA and in addition, provides accurate performance monitoring of the network when used in conjunction with the Cisco Fabric Manager. The Enhanced Port Analyzer Adapter can record the original size of truncated Fibre Channel frames as they become encapsulated in Ethernet which allows the Cisco Fabric Manager to calculate performance data without requiring forwarding of full frames.
