Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of life dates for the Cisco Catalyst 4500 Series 48-Port 100BASE-LX10 Fast Ethernet Line Card (MT-RJ) for single-mode fiber. The last day to order the affected product is March 30, 2007. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) as shown in Table 1 in EoL product bulletin. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco Catalyst 4500 Series 48-Port 100BASE-LX10 Fast Ethernet Line Card (MT-RJ) for single-mode fiber. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.

PRODUCT MIGRATION OPTIONS
The recommended replacement for the Cisco Catalyst 4500 Series 48-Port 100BASE-LX10 Fast Ethernet Line Card (MT-RJ) for single-mode fiber (WS-X4148-FE-LX-MT) is the Cisco Catalyst 4500 Series 48-Port 100 BASE-X SFP Line Card (WS-X4248-FE-SFP) with 48 units of FLC-FE-100LX optics (GLC-FE-100LX48).
Customers can mix and match 100BASE-X-SFP optics on the WS-X4248-FE-SFP line card. The SFP optics supported in Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(25)SG include: 100BASE -FX, 100BASE -LX10, 100BASE -BX-D, and 100BASE -BX-U. With the support
of IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3ah, and IEEE 802.3x flow control, this line card is ideal for Fiber-to-the-desktop applications in Enterprise
and commercial markets, and also ideal for service providers running point-to-point Fast Ethernet to the home or business in Metro Ethernet market.
Customers can use the Cisco Technology Migration Plan (TMP) to trade in products and receive credit toward the purchase of new Cisco equipment. For more information about Cisco TMP, go to:
