Overview

Cisco announces the end-of-support of Linux 6 for the Cisco BroadWorks Release Independent software starting with release 2023.05.

Since November 30, 2020 Linux 6 ended its maintenance support (maintenance support 2) period and as a consequence of this some of our 3rd party software providers have started advertising their end of support for that Linux OS version. This means that those 3rd party software (for example, java JDK) will no longer be updated with BroadWorks when installed on Linux 6. Here are the details for each BroadWorks supported version and OS version combinations:

Release Independent versions running on Linux 6: Impacted 3rd party software will remain to be deployed with the last version supporting Linux 6 and will no longer be upgraded, resulting in not receiving bug fixes and security updates for these 3rd party software packages.

Release Independent versions running on Linux 7 and 8: On a regular basis and as needed, 3rd party software will be updated to include the latest bug fixes and security updates.

Release 22.0, 23.0, and 24.0 running on Linux 6: Impacted 3rd party software will no longer be patched, and you will not receive bug fixes and security updates for these 3rd party software packages.

Release 22.0, 23.0, and 24.0 running on Linux 7: On a regular basis and as needed, 3rd party software will be updated to include the latest bug fixes and security updates.

Release 24.0 running on Linux 8: On a regular basis and as needed, 3rd party software will be updated to include the latest bug fixes and security updates.

BroadWorks Release Independent version will continue to be supported on Linux 6 until April 30, 2023. After this date, BroadWorks Release Independent version will no longer install on Linux 6. This means that BroadWorks RI version 2023.05 will not install on Linux 6 and if your system is still running on Linux 6 you will not be able to get BroadWorks fixes and features until you migrate your system to Linux 7 or 8.

Software maintenance requires an active service contract.
