Cisco® Agile Metro is a dynamic and flexible edge solution that is part of Cisco Agile Services Networking, an architecture to power AI connectivity and improved customer experiences that enable service providers to monetize the delivery of assured services and networking. The solution introduces new Silicon One A100/K100/P100 based fixed and centralized routers and line cards to deliver improved experiences for residential, business and mobile services with a network that is simpler and more cost-effective to build, operate, and scale from locations closer to end-users.

Transform your network with agility and flexibility

Communication Service Providers (CSPs) face challenges to scale cost-efficiently to meet rising demands from AI and the hierarchical nature of traditional networks where service connectivity is centralized and provided from fixed locations that are often far from end-users. AI is generating more data that needs to be processed, transported, and consumed across more connected locations, devices, and people across the network which is leading to less optimal resource utilization. One way to support new services, users and applications is by adding more layers of network and operations to the already complex environment. Because service connectivity is located too far from users, it is not easy to support latency-sensitive and bandwidth-hungry modern applications like autonomous vehicles, live video streaming, and online gaming.

Cisco’s Agile Metro redefines the role of the network and introduces the concepts of universal capabilities and resources. Providers have traditionally had to make tradeoffs in the systems they deploy based on role or place in the network. For example, edge routers are typically more feature rich, but with less scale and performance of say a core router. With Agile Metro, features can be deployed on any system, with bandwidth and service scale as substitutive resources. Cisco Silicon One combined with Cisco IOS XR helps ensure a unified and consistent experience across routing platforms and simplifies the lifecycle management of the infrastructure with a single SDK across network roles and an available AI-enabled platform for advanced automation.

Improved experiences and simplified operations

Increase the agility and flexibility of your network with a new portfolio of fixed and centralized routers and modular system line cards based on Cisco Silicon One. With a unified architecture that simplifies deployments and a unified SDK to provide consistent programmability across devices, the Silicon One A100, K100, and P100 processors enable devices that can be deployed anywhere in the network. Simplify services lifecycle management and operations with Crosswork Network Automation and Cisco Provider Connectivity Assurance, leveraging real-time visibility, predictive AI and analytics, and more efficient workflow deployment for faster capacity planning, anomaly detection and optimized resource allocation.

With a distributed architecture and delivering services closer to the user, it becomes more challenging and important to protect the user quality of experience. Cisco Agile Metro supports a variety of security solutions to address digital resilience including Secure DDoS Edge Protection, which allows routers to detect and mitigate attacks autonomously in real time, protecting networks from volumetric Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks at the edge.

Cisco Agile Metro enables you to:

Increase performance and efficiency with Silicon One based routing platforms.

Assure connectivity services with real-time telemetry and analytics across owned and unowned networks.

Automate and scale deployments with intent-based provisioning, health monitoring and optmization.

Reduce TCO with solutions like Routed PON and Routed Optical Networking expanding use cases from 100G to 800G links and up to 3000km reach.
