Introduction

This document describes what steps to perform when the user receives this DB2 error with Tidal Transaction Analyzer:

type initialize for 'IBM.Data.DB2.DB2Connection' threw an execption.

Prerequisites

Components Used

  • Tidal Transaction Analyzer 1.9 or later

  • IBM DB2

Problem

Errors are received with the DB2 client.

Solution

Perform these steps:

  1. Verify that the DB2 client has been properly installed and configured.

  2. Verify that you can connect to your DB2 database via the DB2 client.

  3. Verify that your DB2 client is 32 bit.

    Note: If you are running a 64-bit DB2 client, this will not work with Transaction Analyzer.
