Introduction
This document describes the limitations with the use of certain T1s with a Cisco TelePresence Multipoint Control Unit (MCU).
Prerequisites
Requirements
Cisco recommends that you have knowledge of these topics:
- Cisco TelePresence Codec C60
- Cisco TelePresence Codec C90
- Cisco TelePresence MCU 4500
- Cisco TelePresence Servers
Components Used
The information in this document is based on these software and hardware versions:
- Cisco TelePresence Codec C60
- Cisco TelePresence Codec C90
- Cisco TelePresence MCU 4500
- Cisco TelePresence Servers
The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.
Can you use a T1 with a Cisco TelePresence MCU?
Yes. However, certain limitations might apply based on the series of T1 you have. There are currently three variations of T1 systems:
- First-generation T1s, which use a Codec C90
- Cisco TelePresence System T1
- Cisco TelePresence System Profile 65, which uses a Cisco TelePresence System Codec C60
Cisco TelePresence System T1
The Cisco TelePresence System T1 can participate in conferences on the Cisco TelePresence MCU 4500 Series. However, these limitations apply:
- You are not be able to see the immersive TelePresence layouts.
- You cannot set up conferences automatically with the control panel.
- You cannot change layouts.
The Cisco TelePresence System T1 solution has been developed to closely integrate with the Cisco TelePresence Server and is the recommended multipoint-infrastructure solution. TelePresence layouts are only available when you connect to a Cisco TelePresence Server (TS7010, Mobility Service Engine [MSE] 8710).
First-Generation T1s and Profile 65
First-generation T1s and Profile 65 can participate in conferences on the Cisco TelePresence MCU 4500 Series. The T1 functions as a normal endpoint that participates in a conference and, if you have a remote control, you can change layouts with the Far End Camera Control and set up conferences. You are not be able to see the TelePresence layouts unless you connect to a TelePresence Server (TS7010, MSE8710).
