A. A Windows username can be from either a local machine account, or an account from a domain.
When supplying a username, you must specify where the account is from to avoid confusing Windows because the same username can be duplicated across different places. For example, there is a local account named 'administrator' and there is a domain wide account named 'administrator'. When entering the username, enter it in the format:
Domain name\username or
Machine name\username when using local user accounts
The domain name should be the NETBIOS name for the domain. On some operating systems or browsers you may get a separate input field for domain. In those cases, enter the domain or machine name in the domain box rather than in the username field.
