Multiple vulnerabilities in the REST and SOAP API endpoints and the Application Framework feature of Cisco Data Center Network Manager (DCNM) could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to conduct directory traversal attacks on an affected device. To exploit these vulnerabilities, an attacker would need administrative privileges on the DCNM application.

Note: The severity of these vulnerabilities is aggravated by the vulnerabilities described in the Cisco Data Center Network Manager Authentication Bypass Vulnerabilities advisory, published simultaneously with this one.
Cisco has released software updates that address these vulnerabilities. There are no workarounds that address these vulnerabilities.

Vulnerable Products
These vulnerabilities affect Cisco DCNM software releases earlier than Release 11.3(1) for Microsoft Windows, Linux, and virtual appliance platforms.

Three vulnerabilities in the REST and SOAP API endpoints and the Application Framework feature of Cisco DCNM could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to conduct directory traversal attacks on an affected device.
The vulnerabilities are not dependent on one another; exploitation of one of the vulnerabilities is not required to exploit another vulnerability. In addition, a software release that is affected by one of the vulnerabilities may not be affected by the other vulnerabilities.

Cisco Data Center Network Manager REST API Path Traversal Vulnerability
A vulnerability in the REST API of Cisco DCNM could allow an authenticated, remote attacker with administrative privileges to conduct directory traversal attacks on an affected device.
The vulnerability is due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input to the API. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a crafted request to the API. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to read, write, or execute arbitrary files in the system with full administrative privileges.

A vulnerability in the SOAP API of Cisco DCNM could allow an authenticated, remote attacker with administrative privileges to conduct directory traversal attacks on an affected device.
The vulnerability is due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input to the API. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a crafted request to the API. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to read, write, or execute arbitrary files in the system with full administrative privileges.

Customers may only install and expect support for software versions and feature sets for which they have purchased a license. Cisco fixed these vulnerabilities in Cisco DCNM Software releases 11.3(1) and later.
To download the software from the Software Center on Cisco.com, do the following:
- Click Browse All.
- Choose Cloud and Systems Management > Data Center Infrastructure Management > Data Center Network Manager.
- Choose a release from the left pane of the Data Center Network Manager page.
