Cisco UBR-RFSW
The default gateway address cannot be added to the RF switch in previous versions of the firmware. This causes difficulties in remote firmware upgrades to the RF switch across subnets.
It has been discovered that remote firmware upgrades to the RF switch across subnets cannot be done because the default gateway on the switch cannot be set. Remote firmware upgrade is a very desirable feature. This capability has now been implemented in the version 2.5 of the RF switch firmware with the ability to set the default gateway.
The RF switch will not upgrade firmware across subnets.
To correct the problem, use the following steps:
Load the new images into the uBR10K with a flash disk in slot 0.
Set the 10K up with the following config. tftp-server disk0:rfsw250-bf-1935022d alias rfsw250-bf-1935022d tftp-server disk0:rfsw250-fl-1935030e alias rfsw250-fl-1935030e
Establish a console connection to the switch and type set tftp-host {ip-addr}. This is the IP address of the uBR10K for TFTP transfers.
Type copy tftp:rfsw250-bf-1935022d bf: to load the bootflash and copy tftp:rfsw250-fl-1935030e fl: to load the flash.
Perform a reload on the switch.
Caution:?You may need to reset some of the configuration after reloading such as the Switch IP address, so review your Switch config after reloading to verify.
Once upgraded to version 2.5, a default gateway address can be added to the switch and new upgrades to the switch can be done across subnets remotely. The only limit is that, if loading from Unix stations, the new image name must be lower case letters.
