PA-A2 Port Adapters will fail boot-up when used with the following:
CISCO7206VXR (midplane) HW version 2.8 or newer - 800-04667-11 CISCO7204VXR (midplane) HW version 2.8 or newer - 800-04766-11
For the purposes of this Field Notice, the term PA-A2 refers to the products listed in the Products Affected section above.
The incompatibility between the PA-A2s and the products listed above in the Problem Description section are due to a change implemented in January, 2004: PCN E076429, which implemented the newer PCI Bridge.
The symptom will be that the PA-A2s will not boot-up.

Solution:
For customers who experience a problem, the solution is to upgrade the IOS to a version that resolves the boot failure. Please view the Bug ID presented below in the DDTS section for versions of IOS that correct the failure.
Note: If the PA-A2 is functioning properly, no action is required.
