Cisco Systems is strongly recommending that users running 4.0.X releases on systems that also incorporate the ML series board, upgrade to Release 4.1.4.
Release 4.1.X resolves several known fault reports in the ML series cards that improves the performance of the ML series cards. Additionally, software releases enhancements have been made in these later revisions to better support the ML series boards.
Release 4.0 was the first release for the ML-Series line cards on the ONS 15454 platform, followed by a migration to Release 4.1.X for bug fixes and new feature support.
Additional fault reports have been addressed in more recent releases, i.e. 4.1.4 and 4.6.X. as well. Several new ML-Series features have been introduced with R4.1.X, including Resilient Packet Ring support and Enhanced QoS. This has made Release 4.1.X or greater more appropriate for ML-Series customers. As newer fault reports have been identified, the focus has been to address them within the 4.1.4, the latest 4.1.X release and R4.6, which introduces additional ML-Series feature support.
Software can be found on the Cisco ONS 15454 Software page.
For an example of issues that have been addressed, refer to the ONS 15454-ML100-12 Card Ethernet Transmitter Lock up and EQPT alarm Issues Field Notice.
Cisco is strongly recommending that ML-Series customers currently using Release 4.0.X migrate to Release 4.1.4 of the platform software.
Release 4.1.4 addresses the issues listed above, including the ONS 15454-ML100-12 Card Ethernet Transmitter Lock up and EQPT alarm Issues.
The software can be found on the Cisco ONS 15454 Software page.
