Hardware Engineering has discovered some of the pins from a connector manufacturer were incorrectly eliminated. This has resulted in defective 15454-EIA-1AMPA84, 15454-EIA-1BNCA48, and 15454-EIA-1SMBA84 products.
Some customers with the affected 15454-EIA's installed in a High Density Shelf Assembly (15454-SA-HD) with DS1-14 modules will have issues with some or all of the A-side slots.
Some customers with the 15454-EIA's installed into a High Density Shelf Assembly (15454-SA-HD) with DS3-12 modules,
will have issues with some or all of the A-side slots.
When a defective 15454-EIA is installed on a High Density Shelf Assembly (15454-SA-HD), ports 11 to 14 will be inoperable in some or all of the A-Side slots (slots 1 to 6) when used with DS1-14/DS1N-14 cards.
When a defective 15454-EIA is installed on a High Density Shelf Assembly (15454-SA-HD), ports 11 to 12 will be inoperable in some or all of the A-Side slots (slots 1 to 6) when used with DS-3 (DS3-12/DS3N-12 or DS3-12E/DS3N-12E) or EC1-12 cards.
Customers will not be able to activate a circuit on impacted ports.
Customers with 15454-SA-ANSI are not affected.
There is no work around for this issue except to return the electrical EIA backplanes for replacement.
Products shipped to customers between February 23, 2004 and September 30, 2004, manufactured with serial numbers from CNH0809xxx to CNH0840xxx, are affected.
Any EIA cards that are built and shipped after October 1, 2004 with CTHxxxxxxx are not affected.
