During initial system installation and turn-up of a B-Side EIA panel, or an upgrade to R6.0.0 software, a false MEA alarm against the BIC-B (EIA) panel will be raised if the system matches the system configuration identified above under Products Affected. The Cisco ONS 15454 R6.0 software has been improperly populated to raise an MEA alarm against the BIC-B (EIA panel) when either a 1BNCB48, 1BNCB24, or 1SMBB84 version EIA panel is installed on an SA-HD version shelf assembly. These three EIA panels are compatible with the SA-HD shelf assembly. This MEA alarm is not service impacting, but causes a standing alarm (CR, SA).
The MEA against the BIC (EIA panel) is designed to allow the system to verify that the correct type of EIA panel is installed on a shelf assembly. If an incorrect EIA panel is installed on the shelf assembly, this can result in interface ports to the system becoming unusable. Release 6.0.0 software was incorrectly coded to include the 1BNCB48, 1BNCB24, and 1SMBB84 EIA panels as not compatible with the SA-HD version shelf assembly.
A standing MEA against the BIC-B EIA panel will be raised.
This issue has been corrected in software releases 6.0.1 and 7.0.0. The MEA alarm against the BIC-B is not service affecting for this configuration and can be ignored until the node is upgraded. Replacing the EIA panels will not correct this issue.
