Media Convergence Server - HP DL 320-G4
Media Convergence Server - MCS-7825-H2-IPC1
Operating System 2000.4.3 is NOT supported on the MCS-7825-H2-IPC1 and the HP DL 320-G4.
CallManager 5.0(3)a is NOT supported on the MCS-7825-H2-IPC1 and the HP DL 320-G4.
Operating System (OS) 2000.4.3:
Operating System (OS) 2000.4.3 was found to cause issues with the MCS-7825-H2-IPC1 and HP DL 320-G4 servers.
The specific issues are:
SATA RAID array rebuild time of approximately six or more hours, when the rebuild should only take approximately 40 minutes to one hour.
Network Interface Card (NIC) numbering will be incorrect. The adapters will display as #3 and #4, instead of the expected #1 and #2. This will not cause any known operational issues with the supported applications.
This issue is solved in OS 2000.4.3a.
Note: The combination of the MCS-7825-H2-IPC1 and HP DL 320-G4 with OS 2000.4.3 is an unsupported and invalid configuration.
Should you experience either of the above two issues, follow the steps in the Workaround section.
CallManager 5.0(3)a:
CallManager 5.0(3)a was found to cause issues with the MCS-7825-H2-IPC1 and HP DL 320-G4 servers.
The specific problem is a SATA RAID array rebuild time of approximately six or more hours, when the rebuild should only take approximately 40 minutes to one hour.
This issue is solved in CallManager 5.0(4).
Note: The combination of MCS-7825-H2-IPC1 and HP DL 320-G4 with CallManager 5.0(3)a is an unsupported and invalid software configuration.
Should you experience the above issue, follow the steps in the Workaround section.
Operating System (OS)2000.4.3:
The combination of MCS-7825-H2 and HP DL 320-G4 with OS 2000.4.3 is unsupported.
Network Interface Card (NIC) numbering will be incorrect. The adapters will display as #3 and #4, instead of the expected #1 and #2. This will not cause any known operational issues with the supported applications.
The SATA RAID array rebuild time will be approximately six or more hours, when the rebuild should only take approximately 40 minutes to one hour.
CallManager 5.0(3)
The combination of MCS-7825-H2 and HP DL 320-G4 with Callmanager 5.0(3)a is unsupported.
The SATA RAID array rebuild time will be approximately six or more hours, when the rebuild should only take approximately 40 minutes to one hour.
Operating System (OS) 2000.4.3:
In regards to the NIC numbering issue, installing Operating System (OS) 2000.4.3a will solve this problem.
Note: An upgrade from OS 2000.4.3 to OS 2000.4.3a on the MCS-7825-H2-IPC1 is NOT supported.
In regards to the OS 2000.4.3 series, 2000.4.3a is the first OS to be supported on this server.
In regards to the SATA RAID array rebuild issue, the following will need to be done every time a rebuild operation is required:
Verify that the replacement drive is in place.
Verify that both drives are properly seated and recognized by the system. This can be accomplished by pressing CTRL-A during the POST which will allow you to enter the embedded Adaptec control firmware.
Verify that any previous rebuild operations are halted. Once again this can be accomplished via the embedded Adaptec control firmware or via the HP Storage Manager which is contained in the Cisco provided Operating System.
Correct The Write Cache:
Using the embedded Adaptec control firmware (CTRL-A during POST, Array Configuration Utility, Manage Array, CTRL-W), enable the Write Cache.
Using the HP Storage Manager, contained within the Cisco provided OS, toggle the Write Cache mode from Write Back->Write Thru->Write Back).
Initiate the array rebuild
CallManager 5.0(3)a:
In regards to SATA RAID array rebuild issue, install CallManager 5.0(4) (registered customers only) or perform the RAID rebuild from the embedded Adapec utility by following these steps:
Boot the server.
Press F8 to go into HP Embedded SATA Setup.
Select Array Configuration Utility, press enter.
Select Manage Arrays, press enter.
