WIC-1SHDSL-V3= |
TAN # 800-26571-01 Rev. B0, PCA# 73-10135-01 Rev B0 |
When displaying Unique Device Identifier (UDI) information on the WIC-1SHDSL-V3= module, the Version Identifier (VID) field may read either V01 or V02. The VID field is displayed using the IOS command show inventory . Even though the VID field should reflect 02, modules displaying a VID value of 01 are functionally equivalent. There is no service impact for modules displaying a UDI VID value of 01 or 02.
Unique Device Identifier (UDI) is a Cisco Systems feature that provides the ability to retrieve and display certain information from any Cisco Systems product that has electronically stored such identity information. The Version Identifier (VID) field is intended to display a product's revision. Whenever a product has been revised, the VID is incremented. For products in this field notice, no change was implemented that required a version change. This field notice specifically applies to WIC-1SHDSL-V3 modules that display 01 in the VID field. WIC-1SHDSL-V3 modules that are currently shipping have a VID field of 02.
It is possible to have a mixed inventory of WIC-1SHDSL-V3 modules with V01 or V02 in environments with multiple deployments. In instances where customers use this field for product traceability, they may see WIC-1SHDSL-V3 modules with either VID (01 or 02) listed in their inventory. There is no functional difference between modules displaying 01 or 02. There is no effect on performance or features.
The cosmetic symptom can be seen by using the IOS command show inventory . Modules displaying a VID value of 01 are functionally equivalent to modules displaying a VID value of 02. There is no service impact or functional difference for modules displaying a UDI VID value of 01 or 02. There is no effect on performance or features.
A workaround/solution is not necessary. There is no functional difference between modules displaying VID 01 or 02. There is no effect on performance or features. Customers using network management solutions or applications to track this field could see either V01 and/or V02. The current version is VID V02, and all products presently being shipped are V02.
For customers with certain equipment accounting measures who wish to have product replaced, Cisco recommends a fix-on-fail strategy for this problem. New products that were manufactured under Engineering Change Order (ECO) E085782 are guaranteed to be free of this problem. Refer to How to Identify Hardware Levels section below for instructions on how to view the version and deviation of in-service product.
Product shipped from Service Logistics may still exhibit this problem. To ensure an RMA replacement is not affected by this problem, request an RMA coded as shown below:
Service Level: Mfg New - 3rd Bus Day NON BILLABLE
Failure Class: Administrative Request
Failure Code: Field Notice Alert
Note: Replacements fulfilled through this process typically take three business days or more to arrive on-site. Therefore, service level agreements do not apply to RMAs coded as shown above.
The cosmetic symptom can be seen by issuing the IOS command show inventory . See below for sample outputs.
Sample of V01 output:
====capture==== NAME: "WAN Interface Card - T1E1 or ATM (With GSHDSL-F module)", DESCR: "WAN Interface Card - T1E1 or ATM (With GSHDSL-F module)" PID: WIC-1SHDSL-V3, VID: V01 , SN: XXXXXXXXXXX ================
Sample of V02 output:
====capture==== NAME: "WAN Interface Card - ATM (With multi line G.SHDSL module) on Slot 0 SubSlot 1", DESCR: "WAN Interface Card - ATM (With multi line G.SHDSL module)" PID: WIC-1SHDSL-V3, VID: V02 , SN: XXXXXXXXXXX ================
