When autonegotiation is enabled on a connected Catalyst switch port, the 15454-DM-L1-xx.x and 15454-DMP-L1-xx.x will not come up or will not recover after autonegotiation synchronization has been triggered on the link.
After a disconnect between the DataMux and Catalyst switch, such as when extracting the connector, performing a shut/no shut or initial configuration, ethernet traffic will not come up on a Catalyst client interface with autonegotiation enabled.
Link is "down/down" on the GE interface even if Optical Power values are within the expected range.
If the problem occurs, disable autonegotiation on the connected Catalyst switch port.
For customers using Catalyst Release 6.3(4) or later, a command has been introduced to extend the autonegotiation sync timer on the Catalyst port. It is recommended that the following syntax be used to properly configure autonegotiation on the Catalyst:
sync-restart-delay 10000
Please refer to the Catalyst 6000 Family Command Reference, Release 6.3, for command usage information.
