A limited set of the Cisco DME 2000 units - serial numbers CP07080001 - CP07080020, and CP07090022 - may have the Windows XP Firewall control panel application set to the ON position. With this setting enabled, customers will not be able to connect to the DME 2000 unit via remote applications such as the Cisco Digital Media Manager, the SCX web application, or the Windows XP Remote Desktop Connection Application. The connection attempt will timeout, and customers may see a "Page Not Found" error in the browser. If the DME 2000 unit falls within the specified serial number range, please follow the workaround instructions below to change the Windows XP Firewall settings.
Between late March and early February, 2007, DME 2000 units CP07080001 - CP07080020, and CP07090022 were shipped with the Windows XP Windows Firewall control panel application set to the ON position. With this setting enabled, customers will not be able to connect to the DME 2000 unit via remote applications. This issue has been corrected for all product shipped from manufacturing as of February, 2007.
The connection will timeout or hang, and a "Page Not Found" error will appear when attempting to connect to a new Digital Media Encoder (DME) 2000 with the Cisco Digital Media Manager, the SCX web application, or via Windows XP Remote Desktop Connection.
The following are the resolution steps to be followed to correct this setting.
Connect a VGA monitor to the Auxiliary VGA port on the back of the DME 2000.
Connect a USB keyboard and mouse to the USB ports on the back of the DME 2000.
Turn on the attached VGA monitor.
Turn on the DME 2000.
Once the DME 2000 has booted up select the Start button on the lower left hand of the screen.
Select Control Panel.
Select Windows Firewall.
Select the OFF radio button.
The Windows Firewall option should now be OFF.
To locate the serial number on a DME 2000, please look on the right side of the unit, towards the front. The serial number will follow this format:
CPxxxxxxxx
