The operating systems of most Cisco products that support Daylight Saving Time (DST) have built in mechanisms to automatically change the times, based on current user-selected rules. Once the new DST is implemented, the time on devices that maintain time zone information will continue to change according to the old method, unless changes are made.
On April 30, 2007, Hon Rick Barker, Minister of Internal Affairs, announced a three week extension to the period of daylight saving. Daylight saving now runs from the last Sunday in September until the first Sunday in April.

Without the undertaking of the steps described in this notice, the potential problem is that scheduled tasks in Cisco Voice Provisioning Tool will execute at the wrong time. Additionally, the timestamps in log files will be incorrect. This can have an impact on any event correlation activities that are performed as part of normal operations, troubleshooting, and monitoring.
Workaround:
No workaround recommended. Use the steps described in the Solution, below.
Solution:
The solution involves
1) updating Voice Provisioning Tool to 1.0(2),
2) installing a Windows OS patch
3) installing a Java Patch.
Voice Provisioning Tool update:
Release 1.0(2) may be downloaded from the Cisco Voice Provisioning Tool Software Downloads (registered customers only) page.
Cisco Media Convergence Server WIndows Operating System
If you are using an MCS Platform, downloads are available from the Unified Communications Manager & Voice Apps Crypto Software (registered customers only) page.
Update to one of the following versions:
win-OS-Upgrade-K9.2000-4-4a-sr10
win-OS-Upgrade-K9.2000-4-5a-SR2
If you are using a non-MCS version of Windows 2003, update to Windows 2003 Server with hot fix KB933360.
Update the Java Runtime Environment using the Timezone Updater 1.2.1 tool from Sun Microsystems.
Steps to Update the JRE:
Stop all the VPT (VPT tomcat) services from the service control panel
Download the patch. The patch comes in the form of a zip file.
Extract the contents of the zip file, place the contents of the zip file to the folder of your choice on the VPT machine.. There should now be a file present named "tzupdater.jar"
Open a command-line window and browse to the path where "tzupdater.jar" is located
Issue the following from the command-line:
%JAVA_HOME%\jre\bin\java -jar tzupdater.jar -u -v -bc
Where %JAVA_HOME% specifies the location where JRE is installed.
The output of the above command will be:
java.home: C:\j2sdk1.4.2_03\jre java.vendor: Sun Microsystems Inc. java.version: 1.4.2_03 JRE time zone data version: tzdata2003a Embedded time zone data version: tzdata2007f Extracting files... done. Making changes for JDK 1.1 compatibiltiy... done. Renaming directories... done. Validating the new time zone data... done. Time zone data update is complete.
To verify the update was successful, issue the same command:
%JAVA_HOME%\jre\bin\java -jar tzupdater.jar -u -v -bc
and verify the returned text contains this statement:
"You have the same version as the embedded one."
If this update needs to be reversed for whatever reason, steps are provided in the ReadMe.html file in folder "tzupdater2007f" mentioned earlier.
Reboot the VPT machine.
Verify that the Voice Provisioning Tool is functioning correctly.
