Problem Description

Cisco Fibre Channel Longwave optical transceivers (part number DS-SFP-FC16G-LW) might trigger Tx and Rx high power warnings because of an incorrect power threshold value. This problem is seen in transceivers manufactured earlier than serial number AVD2125N003.

Background

A power warning message is seen in DS-SFP-FC16G-LW optical transceivers because of an incorrect threshold value (0.5 dB) for Tx and Rx high power. The correct threshold value for Tx and Rx high power is 2 dB.

Problem Symptom

These console and syslog messages are observed when the issue occurs:

Serial number is AVD2044N0NS
Cisco part number is 10-2673-01
Cisco pid is DS-SFP-FC16G-LW

No tx fault, no rx loss, in sync state.

Workaround/Solution

No action is needed. The warning can be safely ignored if the displayed Tx and Rx power level is lower than 2 dB.

This issue is resolved in transceivers that were manufactured after serial number AVD2125N003.
