Problem Description

A batch of 0dB loopback devices (39-0278-01), manufactured by a specific supplier, cannot be installed into the products listed in the Products Affected section since they do not lock into the unit.

Background

The 0dB loopback device (39-0278-01), from a certain supplier, cannot be installed into the products listed in the Products Affected section. This is due to mechanical interference between the protective plastic black body and the hinge of the adapter safety door of the product.

Problem Symptom

When the 0dB loopback device (39-0278-01) is inserted, it does not click and lock into position in the products listed in the Products Affected section. This results in higher insertion loss than 0dB.

Workaround/Solution

If the 0dB loopback device (39-0278-01) does not lock into the product ports and if the serial number starts with GFP, Cisco recommends use of a 0dB LC-LC patchcord instead.

How To Identify Affected Products

A 0dB loopback device with a serial number that starts with GFP, as shown in this picture, is suspected to exhibit the issue.
