CSCvn72421 | Replacing the controller cards (11.0) with legacy shelf controllers (pre-11.0) causes traffic loss |
A traffic hit could happen on units that operate in an NCS 2002 (ONS 15454 M2) chassis under these situations:
These situations could result in a similar traffic hit on units that operate in an NCS 2006 (ONS 15454 M6) or NCS 2015 chassis if they run with a single controller line card (which is not a Cisco recommended configuration).
A new file system has been introduced with NCS 2000 Release 11. A mismatch between the file system of the USB flash drive (stored in the chassis) and of the controller line card leads the controller to operate as if the chassis would have to be provisioned for the first time.
An NCS 2002 (ONS 15454 M2) chassis will report factory default settings or an invalid configuration after replacement of the controller line card.
An NCS 2006 (ONS 15454 M6) or NCS 2015 chassis operated with a single controller will report factory default settings or an invalid configuration after replacement of the controller line card.
In order to avoid the issues mentioned in this field notice, Cisco recommends that you take these actions before you replace the controller line card in single shelf mode:
