Cisco ASR 903 and ASR 920 Series Aggregation Services Routers, as mentioned in the Products Affected section, that run one of these software releases will not boot:
A new hardware version for the products (mentioned in the Products Affected section) will be introduced to address End of Life (EoL) of the existing Flash component. These will be supported only by Cisco IOS XE Polaris Software Release 16.9.1a or later and Cisco IOS XE 3.18.5SP or later.
The installation of a new version of the hardware (listed in the Products Affected section) will not proceed after the Image Signature Verification stage, which will show an error message with special characters in the log files and the system will go into a hung state.
