Problem Description

BroadWorks servers that run MariaDB 10.1 require an upgrade to MariaDB 10.2, which is a currently supported version of the database engine.

Background

MariaDB 10.1 is now end-of-life (EOL). It is important to upgrade to MariaDB 10.2 in order to continue to receive support and fixes from MariaDB and to ensure the databases continue to run a secure and optimized branch of the engine. A patch is available to install MariaDB 10.2.32 on the applicable BroadWorks servers.

Problem Symptom

These BroadWorks R22 components might contain MariaDB 10.1 and must be updated to remain on a supported version of MariaDB:

  • Network Database Server (NDS)
  • Network Function Manager (NFM)
  • Messaging Server (UMS)

Workaround/Solution

These patches provide MariaDB 10.2.32:

  • AP.nds.22.0.1123.ap375219
  • AP.nfm.22.0.1123.ap375219
  • AP.ums.22.0.1123.ap375219

In order to determine the version of BroadWorks that is deployed, enter the get versions all command from the CLI. More information on how to check the patch level can be found in section 8.2 of the Cisco Broadworks Maintenance Guide.

After the patch is applied, additional steps are required on all cluster nodes in order to activate MariaDB 10.2. Follow the steps described in section 10.7.12 (Upgrading MariaDB) of the R22.0 Broadworks Maintenance Guide.
